The experience of calvary gives significance to the life of mankind.
Calvary signifies a place where the greatest of history was made.The place where the Son of God was crucified for the redemption of human soul.Matthew 27:33-44,Genesis 3:15.
Calvary is a place where Christ submitted Himself,laid down His life so that mankind might be saved.
Here God's promise and plan of redemption was fulfilled and made a reality.
At calvary,Jesus feet was bruised being nailed to the tree while the head of satan,the arch enemy of humanity was bruised.Isaiah 53:1-8.
Calvary signifies the place of crucifixion.A place of fulfillment of promises and prophecies.The road to heaven will remain closed to mankind but not for calvary.
The Burden Of Sin
Sin is the greatest problem of man.It is the heaviest of all burden,too difficult for man to carry.The sin of the whole world was upon Christ at calvary.This is a place of suffering and humiliation of the saviour.
At calvary,the precious blood of Jesus was shed to wash away every sin of man. Mankind can now get his passport to heaven(God's place of abode)from calvary.
At the feet of Christ,there's forgiveness of sin,cleansing from sin's stains and freedom from the bondage of sin.
The Brasen Serpent
History has it that when Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt to Canaan land,those that sinned against God were bitten by serpent.God then instructed Moses His servant to make a serpent of brass and set it up on a tree and it came to pass that whosoever was bitten by the serpent when he look at the serpent of brass was saved and not die.
Likewise at calvary,Jesus was nailed to the cross and lifted up that whoever believes on Him should not perish but have life everlasting.John 3:14-16.Numbers 21:5-9
